About Rosy

Rosy is a contemporary landscape and portrait painter based in Sydney. Alongside painting, she cares for her three children and works as a speech pathologist. Rosy studied fine art at Edinburgh College of Art (Scotland) and portraiture classes at Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney.

Intrinsic to Rosy’s art-making process is an engagement with the environment and landscape through plein-air painting. She creates gouache paintings outside, which she then reflects on and expands into larger-dimension oil paintings in the studio.

Rosy has been in many national prizes including: AME Bale Art Prize (winner: painting category, 2020; finalist 2022); Portia Geach Memorial Award (finalist 2021, 2023, 2024); Waverley Art Prize (finalist 2021); Rick Amor Self Portrait Prize (finalist 2022); Gosford Art Prize (finalist 2022, 2024); Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (semifinalist 2022); Burwood Art Prize (finalist 2023, 2025); and Paddington Art Prize (finalist 2024).

In 2023 Rosy took up the Bundanon Residency in New South Wales via the William Fletcher Foundation. She regularly exhibits work as an exhibiting member of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales and in galleries in Sydney, including a 2024 solo show at Scieppan Gallery, Darlinghurst. Her work is held in private collections internationally, in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and New York.
